failed install via pip: clang error, unknown argument: '-mno-fused-madd'
Reported by EJ | March 11th, 2014 @ 01:56 AM
I get the following error when attempting to install
psycopg2
via pip on Mavericks 10.9:
clang: error: unknown argument: '-mno-fused-madd' [-Wunused-command-line-argument-hard-error-in-future]
Not sure how to proceed and have searched here and elsewhere for this particular error. Any help is much appreciated!
Here is the complete output from pip:

I'd have bet my favourite grandma that Apple had just released with some new piece of something breaking python builds. And the first google hit is:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22313407/psycopg2-installation-f...Thank you for reporting but it's not our bug.

For other people stumbling in this bug, do the following before building psycopg:
export CFLAGS=-Qunused-arguments export CPPFLAGS=-Qunused-arguments

Psycopg is the most used PostgreSQL adapter for the Python programming language. At the core it fully implements the Python DB API 2.0 specifications. Several extensions allow access to many of the features offered by PostgreSQL.
