Fixed in psycopg 2.5.4. The class init now attempts a conversion to int.

Thank you for the report: yes, jsonb is to be supported. It is enough to register the already existing adapter to the new oids.

Reducing to empty is not the only normalization rule Postgres uses. PG for instance normalizes [10,20] to [10,21).
